How to Choose the Perfect Granite

Posted by & filed under Granite Countertops.

Granite is a great stone. It isn’t just elegant and luxurious. It’s also incredibly durable and resistant to heat, burns, stains, scratches and more. We install granite kitchen counters in Eagan, so we have a few tips for you when you’re choosing the perfect slab of granite for your new counters.

When you come to our showroom to look at colors for your new granite kitchen counters, bring along a sample of the cabinets you’re having installed, as well as samples of any tiles, curtains or other accessories that will go into your new kitchen. That way, you can see how everything looks together and you can be sure your new granite won’t clash with the rest of your kitchen.

And when it comes to choosing the right color or pattern, here are a few suggestions:

  • If you have cabinets in a neutral shade like medium brown, take a look at granite that is gray, beige or white.
  • If your new cabinets are cherry wood, be sure to check out Uba Tuba, Verde Peacock and Typhoon Boreaux.
  • If your cabinets will be more of a dark brown shade, definitely look at granite kitchen counters that are more of a green shade.
  • If your cabinets will be made of oak in medium to light brown, go for a contrasting color for a beautiful and eye-catching look. Try Tan Brown or Silver.

When you are looking at slabs for your new granite kitchen counters, you might be tempted to match the granite with your cabinets to an exact matching shade of granite. This is a design no-no! This could end up looking overwhelming. The look will be too uniform.
