Marble Countertops & Vanities
Minneapolis Granite – Minnesota
Marble is formed when limestone softens from heat and pressure and then re-crystallizes, after mineral changes have occurred. It is primarily composed of calcium and dolomite, making it a moderately hard material. There are many colors available ranging from white to black. It is typically heavily veined and shows a lot of grains.
According to Stone World, marble is classified in three categories:
- Dolomite: more than 40% magnesium carbonate
- Magnesium: between 5% and 40% magnesium carbonate
- Calcite: less than 5% magnesium carbonate
** Marble is highly decorative, making it perfect for your home’s interior. Popular uses include fireplace surrounds, bathtub surrounds, vanity tops, tabletops, table bases and architectural elements.
